The blackberry is the berry of depth. Glossy and dark, with a sweet-tart richness and a satisfying fibre content, it adds dimension to both sweet and savoury work — and frozen, that depth is on-spec all year.
Flavour and nutrition
Frozen blackberries deliver a deep, complex flavour and a striking near-black colour that reads as premium on a plate or pack. Nutritionally they are among the richer berries: high in fibre, vitamin C, and anthocyanin antioxidants. IQF-frozen at peak ripeness, that profile is locked in, so an off-season dessert carries the same intensity as a high-summer one.
Sweet and savoury range
Blackberries excel in coulis, compotes, and reductions — blend from frozen and sieve for a seedless sauce, or simmer whole for a rustic compote that finishes cheesecakes and panna cotta. In bakery they fold into crumbles, pies, and muffins; in savoury work, a blackberry reduction makes a dramatic glaze for duck, venison, and pork. The dark colour does a lot of plating work on its own.
Grades for the format
We supply IQF whole blackberries at a 95% whole-berry grade for visible use, plus crumble/broken and purée by RFQ for sauces and fillings, and organic on request. Specifying the right grade keeps quality high and cost sensible — whole where it shows, purée where it does not.
